Island Press Coffee

Oct 4, 2021

All Hawaii, everything. That is the sentiment at Island Press Coffee in Kaʻanapali. This cozy coffee shop is located just down the road from one of the island’s most bountiful coffee farms. Rather than shipping foreign beans thousands of miles across the Pacific, Island Press Coffee stays close to the source, opting to serve Maui-grown coffee instead. Try the Kaʻanapali dark roast (medium-bodied with a hint of spice), prepared in a french press. The menu also features banana bread, local kombucha, fresh pastries, and breakfast sandwiches.

Island Press Coffee Experience

Hawaiian History

Stepping into Island Press is like stepping back in time to old Hawaii. Hawaii’s history is rich, much like the coffee that grows on the slopes of the West Maui Mountains. The shop walls are decorated with vintage artwork, old Hawaii license plates, records, ukuleles, and guitars. A large flag featuring the Hawaiian coat of arms is draped above the entrance, paying homage to the days of the Hawaiian Kingdom.

Island Press History and Books

Staying true to the old-school vibe, Island Press Coffee encourages customers to put down the screen and pick up a book instead. Just outside the shop, you’ll find a book exchange with an assortment of titles to browse.
