On the edge of the old paniolo town of Makawao, you will find a stylish, rustic grey building often bustling with people. This is Sip Me, a small coffee shop that has become an upcountry staple since its opening five years ago.
Golden Latte
Beyond the always-friendly service, the first thing you will notice upon entering is a large decorated chalkboard displaying the menu. One of the most notable coffee drinks on the menu is by far the Rose Gold latte. This eye-catching drink is made with 1882 rose syrup, which tastes like roses smell and is garnished with a 22k gold flake. Sip Me also serves various espresso drinks, brewed coffee, loose-leaf teas, and food items like quiches, gluten-free and vegan baked goods, juices, and smoothies. Sip Me strives to source local and organic ingredients and serves locally roasted coffee from Maui Oma Coffee Roasters.
Along with their striking coffee presentation, Sip Me’s fresh interior is impressive as well. The hardwood floors and black and white furniture present a trim and polished look. Decorative pillows line the bench seats, small potted succulents dot the tables, and a colorful mural of monstera leaves encompass the back wall. Sip Me also has a small courtyard with outdoor seating, which is a perfect place to enjoy a hot cup of coffee or tea on a crisp upcountry morning.
