What makes a cafe “great”? Some may say good food and drink, while others may overlook the former in favor of unique character and solid service. But in order to cross the threshold from good to great, all of these factors must be present. Cafe @ La Plage is the embodiment of a great cafe with delicious food and coffee, immaculate service, and a terrific local character.

For those unfamiliar with the French language, Cafe @ La Plage translates to “cafe at the beach”. Cafe @ La Plage’s title is accurate, sitting mere feet from the sand at Kamaole Beach I. Nestled in the corner of the Dolphin Plaza on South Kihei Road, Cafe @ La Plage boasts views of the shimmering ocean across the street from its outdoor seating area (which is usually occupied by a crew of lively regulars).
The current owners, Mark and Jackie, encompass the aloha spirit. You’ll often find them behind the counter chatting up customers and whipping up great cups of joe from Maui Oma Coffee Roasters. Their menu boasts breakfast and lunch along with daily specials, but their breakfast sandwiches are an irrefutable hit- and in “La Plage” fashion, nearly every sandwich is named after a South Maui beach.
