MAKANA Market + Cafe at Fairmont Kea Lani – Wailea, Maui
Whether you’re staying at the Fairmont Kea Lani, walking the Wailea Beach Path, or heading to Polo Beach for a sunny beach day, stop into MAKANA Market + Cafe for all your caffeine needs. This cafe is located in the Fairmont Kea Lani, just across the hall from their award-winning restaurant, Ko.
Like everything at the Fairmont Kea Lani, MAKANA Market + Cafe gives off an elevated vibe. This isn’t your average resort sundries shop. The barista counter is bright and sleek, with a black-lettered menu printed against white tiles, shelves adorned with potted plants, and cases filled with pastries and other goodies.
The Fairmont clearly prioritizes local products, and MAKANA Market is no different. Makana serves Social Hour Coffee, which is locally roasted in Wailuku. Go for a 100% Hawaii coffee pour-over or opt for something sweeter, like the Hawaiian latte with coconut and macadamia nut syrup.
While other coffee shops stock their pastry cases with croissants from Costco, everything at MAKANA Market + Cafe is made in-house. Be sure to grab a lilikoi cookie if they’re in stock. The barista recommended this to me, and they’re delightful.
Aside from pastries, MAKANA Market + Cafe also serves breakfast, lunch, dinner, and grab-and-go salads and sandwiches. Breakfast features egg dishes, smoothies, and acai bowls, while lunch and dinner offerings include paninis, pizzas, burgers, fish and chips, and keiki options. The food is excellent, and it’s a great place to stop if you’re short on time or not in the mood for a meal at a sit-down restaurant.
On the market side of things, MAKANA has snacks and sundries, plus a wide variety of wine, beer, juices, and soft drinks. There is also a huge selection of local Hawaii goodies to shop for. This is a great place to find gifts and souvenirs, like locally roasted coffee, Hawaii-made jams, artwork, tote bags, spices, and much more.
MAKANA Market + Cafe is open daily from 6:30 am to 8 pm. Stop here for tasty fare, great coffee, and local goodies.
